Anna Hepler: Intricate Universe
For Intricate Universe, the artist presents three interconnected bodies of work: a group of three
small dioramas, Projection Rooms, a site-specific sculptural installation ARREST, ARRAY and a selection of woodcuts. The dioramas, installation and some of the woodcuts describe, in different ways, the fleeting geometry of a flock suspended in the air.
Dense and intricate, Hepler’s two dimensional imagery is primarily abstract, though she thinks of all her work as a kind of ‘reductive realism’ – that is, the images and sculptures are derived from observed visual phenomena.
